Kirstie Alley Flaunts New Figure On 'Oprah'
Chicago, IL (AHN) - Actress Kirstie Alley flaunted her new figure in a bikini on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." She had lost 75 pounds on her 5-foot-8 frame, after reaching a high of 220 pounds. Alley, 55, walked onto the show's stage wearing a maroon bikini. Although she opted to wear a dress for the interview, Alley told Oprah that she never would have had the guts to don a bikini onstage even when she was a slender 30-year-old. "I think women - I don't think we ever feel like we're good enough. We don't feel like we're thin enough or pretty enough or smart enough or work hard enough. And we are good enough," she said. She said: "The bikini thing is neither here nor there, other than the fact, you know, I am 55 years old. So I thought - come on, we are all good enough.
Strawberries Can Lift Spirits and Smooth Crankiness During Dark ...
06/11/06 The dark, cold days of winter can also lead to some pretty gloomy moods, but research shows that the simple consumption of certain foods can go a long way to create smiles where there were frowns. Fortunately for the ever-increasing numbers of Americans who say it is their favorite fruit, strawberries are high on the list. In fact, strawberries were featured prominently on NBC's "Today Show" November 2. Registered Nutritionist Joy Bauer included them in a presentation about foods that can improve moods, pointing out that the soluble fiber in strawberries helps slow the absorption of carbohydrates in the blood stream, which helps keep a person's blood sugar levels (and temperament) more even. "One of the things that can make people cranky and feel bad is a big swing in blood sugar," explains Susan Bowerman, MS, RD, assistant director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition.
